The local handicrafts sold in the markets range from beautiful hand-made alpaca sweaters to your typical tourist trinkets, with EVERYTHING in between. The amount of items can be dizzying, the prices inexpensive, and the hunt for something unique exhilarating. The market along Avenida de la Marina is cheaper and a little less touristy but the Mercado Indio in Miraflores has better quality and is more convenient. Handicrafts from all over Peru, from the jungles of Iquitos to the Andean city of Cuzco can be found here. Bring your soles or dollars, bargain hard, and you should come home with some treasures from your trip.
