I do not know how often the market is there.
There is a place to stay cheaply beside the square, and we were returning to pick up our stuff when we saw the market.
I do not know a polite way of putting it; it was dreadful, absolutely dreadful. Live chickens were lying around with their legs trussed and puppies were kept in containers of a size more suited to mice.
Most of the vegetables looked as though they might well come from the time when the mosque was being built. Need I go on?
This recommendation is based on one visit only. Seeing is believing - or is it better now? I hope so.
