Caught in a brief spring shower, we ducked inside the museum to escape the rain and revisit some history. The Cuban Missile Crisis exhibit brings back some cold war memories which blighted my childhood. The infectious fear of school children crouching under their desks in expectation of nuclear annilation is still real to me.

The exhibit does a wonderful job of recreating the home and classroom of the not so distant 1960's. My husband and I marveled in delight as we recognized dishes, furnishings and clothing from an era that is not yet viewed as antique. Nostalgia for childhood memories is sweet and remembrance of what almost was is sobering. The Cuban Missile Crisis Exhibit tells the story.

The curator told us that this exhibit will probally continue through this year. For an overview of this and other exhibits visit href="www.floridamuseum.org" floridamuseum.org

Although it was scheduled to depart at the end of May, John F. Kennedy, The Exhibition, has now found a permanent home at the Florida International Museum. This exhibit features the largest private collection of John F. Kennedy artifacts in the world.
It is an exhibit that is truly worth seeing while in St. Petersburg.
