The beauty of the outside of this historical opera house does not even come close to comparing to the inside. For only L10.000 (6 dollars) you can buy a ticket for any event there- operas, ballets, concert. Your seats are in the upper balcony and you have to go wait in line a few hours before it starts, but it's very worth it! The red plush interior, hushed whispers of the elegant audience, and massive yet delicate glass chandelier... it makes you understand why nearly every opera house in the world is modeled after this one.

La Scala, the most famous opera house in the world has its premier annual performance in December. A tour of its 4 tiers of boxes and two galleries are a must if you can't catch a performance.
