Poas Volcano

My first volcano experience. It's best to go early in the morning before the clouds roll in, or you may be disappointed. I visited Poas for the first time about two weeks after my arrival in Costa Rica. Actually looking down into that steaming crater just about knocked my socks off. There are trails for hiking around the summit, including one that goes to a lake in one of the old craters. The air is fresh and misty, and can be downright wet. You can warm up and dry off in the coffee shop.
