Heredia Soccer Games

Heredia is essentially a suburb of San Jose, and it's the capital of its province. It's also relatively clean and neat, devoid of the dirtiness of San Jose, but still relatively close by to offer all the amenities of the big city. Heredia is home to the National University, and also home to one of the country's favorite soccer teams.

If you're staying in San Jose, you absolutely have to visit a soccer game -- along with cycling, it's one of the most popular pastimes in Costa Rica, and the people are into their soccer. The games are typically professional soccer, lots of drawn fouls and overly dramatic falls, but it's exciting none-the-less, especially when the crowd goes crazy after goals. You'll feel very authentic after you come home from an official Costa Rican game of futbol.
