The turtle farm is more like a turtle saving operation that goes on on Isla Mujeres. The people from the farm go and pick the eggs as teh turtles lay them and take them back to the farm, where they make sure that the babies get to become adults in a safe environment and then are released into the ocean. Locals also chase turtles for their eggs, but for different purposes. They are believed to be aphrodisiacs.

If you find a turtle egg and are unsure what to do, just bring it to the farm and they will appreciate it.
