We had to don hardhats and stoop to pass through many parts of the tunnel through the mine. Even in the summer, it was cool and damp inside as we walked along planks through the long underground tunnel. We saw original workings of the mine and learned about the history of Colorado gold mining during our 45-minute tour.
Wear a sweater when you take the tour. The mine is located two miles from downtown Breckenridge and is accessible the year round.
