Thursdays during the summer they have the Junkanoo Festival. There are many locals who dress up in native costumes, carrying around drums and other instruments and playing island music. Overall, the experience was fun, but I would recommend visiting The Port Lucaya Marketplace over this one.

We did find better deals in the shops right behind the shiney white building at the International Bazar. This area was a lot more of what I expected to find here.Narrow alleyways snake between shop where you can find quality goods at a reasonable price.More importantly you can stop to look at the colors of the gardens.
A word of caution though,The International Bazar is the only place in the Bahamas that I have experienced a problem with a local. While waiting for my wife outside a drugstore a local resident tried to convince me to accompany him, alone to sample grass.Refusing that he offered me a sample, again alone,of a cuban cigar.Again I refused, and I could tell he was sizing me up to see where I was carrying my wallet.I wasn't carrying a wallet so he seemed to get a little confused.I turned and entered the drugstore and he followed me at a distance of only one foot. When I realized he was behind me,I turned and he was forced to pass. This person was trying to get me alone to mug me for certain, and all within one hundred feet of the local constable's office.Be careful.
