Our journey starts from where we stayed, Batu Ferringhi -> Teluk Bahang -> Titi Kerawang -> Balik Pulau -> Kampung S.Nibong -> Gelugor -> George Town -> Tanjung Bungah -> Batu Ferringhi
Go straight till the end of Batu Ferringhi, and you will find the Craft Batik factory. Look at how Batik is being made, and you can buy some batik products fresh from the oven. Leave the Batik factory and drive stright till you reach the roundabout, take the 12 o'clock direction; you will be heading to Teluk Bahang, a fishing village.
Look at what the fisherman's life is like in the morning, when every household is heading to the sea for their living. There is a newly developed National Park next to the village, too. Register yourself at the little hut, and you can start trekking in the jungle. Enjoy the flora and fauna, and the stream and waterfall along the way. If you finish up the trekking path which takes you 3 hours, you will reach the light house!
From the Teluk Bahang, outside the mosque, it is 20km to Balik Pulau. Go past the Orchard Farm where orchid lovers should stroll through, then the Rimba Rekreasi Teluk Bahan Jabatan Hutan--the Forestry Museum and Arboretum--as well as the Butterfly Farm, which are all located on the left.
Butterfly Entrance Fees:
Adult RM10.00 for locals and RM12.50 for foreigners [5% Tax] and RM1.00 for camera/video camera fees
Keep going straight when you leave the Butterfly Farm. The winding road starts to climb up 2km further on. Pass by See Hong Estate on the right. Keep going straight; you will see a flower nursery on the right. You are now 12km away from Balik Pulau. After this, the Titi Kerawang Stall at the 11km point is a fine rest stop for local frsh fruits and coconut dirnks.
Just 2 minutes away from this stall, take a walk down to the famous Titi Kerawang Waterfall. Watch our for slippery rocks if you want to swim though. Take a moment to breath in the fresh cool air here, you will feel energised.
Leave the waterfall, and you will have 7km to drive to reach Balik Pulau, a small town with old shop houses and delicous local foods. Have lunch here, and try out the traditional way of cooking. The recommended restaurant here is located at the Main Road, look for Kedai Kopi Green Garden, for various local foods.
After lunch, continue your journey. Exit right at the end of the Main Road after the market, and you will find Jalan Relau, which connects with Jalan Tun Sardon. At the fork road ahead, turn right to Bayan Lepas and stop at the Snake Temple for photography.
