Snorkelling at Pulau Payar

The snorkeling trip was organized by a company called Langkawi Coral. We paid RM 200 for snorkeling and RM 250 for diving (you need to be a certified diver in this case). The package included complete transportation from our hotel door to and from the island, lunch, and equipment rental.

We left early in the morning, and reached the island at about 11am. Then the divers and snorkelers were separated into different groups. I was to go snorkeling. They had made a separate platform near the island for snorkeling.

As soon as I put my head into the water, I saw a completely different world. A beautiful world of multicolored fishes, corals, sea anemones. There were thousands of fishes, some of them swimming in large shoals. The snorkeling lasted till 12:30 and then we were served lunch.

After lunch, we were taken to a nearby beach to see some baby sharks. This was definitely an unforgettable experience.

After this, we headed back to our platform and then back to our hotel. The beauty of this island has etched permanent memories of it into my heart.
