Magic Kingdom--Walt Disney World

Going to Disney in September was really great! Yeah, it was still quite hot and it rained on and off, but it was well worth the trip. Rarely were there any lines to wait in. A lot of times my family and I could walk right on to some of the major attractions, like Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain, in Magic Kingdom. Even though it was busy for the off-season, like I said, wait times weren't bad and it was a little less money than in the peak season. So, if you do not mind the weather and are looking for a trip to Disney and do not want to pay eight arms and twelve legs, definitely go before the rush of the holidays.

Magical Kingdom

Magic Kingdom is one of the best parks out of the four. Top five things to do there are to watch the Cinderellabration at the castle, Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Mickey's Philharmagic. All of these attractions have a Fast Pass except Cinderellabration, so get there at least 30-45 minutes before. The best thing to do is get your Fast Pass and move on to enjoy something else. Fast Passes help a lot when there are large crowds. One thing that I thought worked well was to get there before the park opens and rush to the ride that you want to get on first. After that, get a Fast Pass for later so you can return to it again. Their are many places to eat, but it really depends on how much money you want to spend--an average meal for fast food costs around $7. Before you go eat, make sure you stop and get a Fast Pass from an attraction, but make sure it's not one that's fast, or else you might get sick. If you have a Park Hopper pass, you should head back to your room to rest in the afternoon so you can watch the nighttime fireworks show "Wishes" and their nighttime electric light parade.

WDW- Magic Kingdom

I love Disney; growing up, I visited Disneyland more times than one can count, and I have been to WDW several times since it first opened. My purpose is to give a heads up on the crowds that pack into WDW. With some research, plan your trip when crowds are not so bad if at all possible. In addition, this last trip we took was a first with a toddler in tow, and it was a challenge. First, we visited the week BEFORE Thanksgiving--by all accounts a less busy time. WRONG. The parks were so packed with people, it was difficult just walking, and every ride had huge lines and made the day stressful. We weren't the only families that thought it was overcrowded, and many said they were not having fun.

But the Disney parks are far superior in detail and decoration (anytime of year). We did get to enjoy the parks decked out for Christmas, and my two younger children were in awe most of the time. Weather can get cold in Orlando--some nights were in the 30s on our visit, and some days were only 50ish. Be prepared to bring hats and gloves for the kids and avoid the water rides in cooler temps. Be aware that anytime near a holiday is busy in all the Orlando theme parks. Employees told me a great time to visit is in October just before Halloween. The crowds on this last trip were the worst I had ever seen, even in summer.

TIPS: Use Fast Pass--it is only good for one ride at a time, so choose the most popular ride. Some kids bring a stroller that folds quickly and easily. That way, you can get it on the trams, monorail, MK Train fast. I prefer to bring my own if we are driving, but if you rent a stroller, tie something on it to quickly pick it out from the sea of strollers (plus, it is less likely to be taken if you tie stuff on it).

You will NOT be able to see and do it all with little ones in tow, so pace yourself and try to enjoy yourself regardless of how much you get to ride, etc. Younger kids don't get to ride or do very much, but they do like to watch and see everything. Dine at one of the many restuarants, Disney's food is much better than other theme parks and the break is needed! DO bring a couple of juice boxes and a bottle of water, in a tote or backpack. If staying at a Disney resort, USE the package service that! Go online to get the event schedules for parades and shows to better than your day. Go early, leave in the afternoon for a room break, so back in the evening especially with younger kids. My kids love the monorail, ask if you can ride with the driver!

Disney World - Magic Kingdom - Part 1

My two boys had the time of their lives. Even though the tickets can be a little pricey, it was well worth the cost of admission for the enjoyment that my sons had.

Disney's Magic Kingdom

Walt Disney had a dream many years ago about a place where parents and their children could come together and have fun. Magic Kingdom is that place. It should be the first park for any first-time Disney World visitor. The Magic Kingdom consists of seven lands in a layout similar to a hub-and-spoke wheel. The entrance leads into Main Street U.S.A. is themed after Walt’s hometown of Marceline, Missouri. The other lands include Adventureland, themed after the jungles of Africa and Asia; Frontierland, themed after the Wild West; Liberty Square, themed after revolutionary America; Fantasyland, themed after a child’s wildest dreams; Mickey’s Toontown Fair, home of Mickey Mouse; and Tomorrowland, themed after the 1950s idea of the future.

There is a plethora of attractions at the Magic Kingdom. It caters to individuals of all ages. Although the entire park can be explored in one day, I highly recommend breaking it down into at least two days. The major rides are spread throughout the park, so be prepared for lots of walking. If you are visiting in the summer, try to stay indoors during the heat of the day. The heat can take away a lot of your energy.

Dining options include fast food, counter service, and fine dining. Priority seating is a must if you want to eat at one of the nice restaurants. We ate lunch at Pecos Bill’s Cafe in Frontierland. The hamburgers were large enough to fill us up and didn’t taste too bad, either. The Magic Kingdom always has the power to transport me to another place and time. The ticket prices are a little steep but are so worth it. I highly recommend the Magic Kingdom to everyone, as it truly brings out the kid inside you.
