WineMakers Dinner

It was a wonderful dinner with several courses served, each with its own wine. The wine maker described the wine and why it was appropriate with the dish being served. They had excellent servers and food. They seat you with others, so you make friends from other areas, unless of course you are in a large group to take up a table for 6 to 8 people. The room was small and cozy, so all tables were close to the wine-makers table. It was also informal to the extent you could ask questions and speak to the wine-maker him/herself.

Winemaker's Dinner
Every week a winery comes to the resort and, with a chef from Fareways Restaurant, puts together a gourmet dinner with five different wines. The chef describes every course before it is served (five courses total) and a representative from the winery describes the wine. It was awesome and very tasty. The cost of this event is only $45 per person, which is very reasonable for a gourmet wine-tasting dinner.

The dinner was exceptional and the wines were excellent. We were blessed with a vintner sitting at our table who enhanced the meal by helping everyone in the dining area learn how to "taste" wines. Even those who had only gone by the "drink what you like, don't drink what you don't like" motto learned how to appreciate the complexity of enjoying a wine.

The WineMakers Dinner has become a weekly event. The first time I attended, Southern Living Magazine was on site. Excellent five-course meal and every course is paired with a different Virginia wine! Depending on the week you are visiting, you may want to call ahead for reservations.
