Golfing the Meadows Course

This used to be an Executive nine-hole course, which was very walkable. Nine more holes were added in 2003, and I got the bright idea to walk it. Bad idea! The new holes are quite spaced out.

There are a few tricky shots on the course, but it is very playable. It's the first course my 13-year-old daughter played all 18 on, and she scored decently - 124.

As a bonus, our unit backed onto the eighth hole, so we got to watch a bit of golf, and the family could watch for us on the way by.

Golfing the Mountain Course

This course is built along the mountainside, which makes playing the course tricky. Most shots feed down the mountain slope, so play it that way. There are lots of woods, wildlife and elevation changes that make for a great day, if not a great score.

Golf at Massanutten

The greens are wide and the hazards are few. An enjoyable experience for myself, a novice golfer.

I was alone and was paired up with groups of other golfers to make a foursome. The front nine holes are fairly short while the back nine include a few par-five holes.

The course is actually an executive course that has had another nine holes added. Holes 1-7, 17, and 18 are part of the executive course and are short but nice. The new holes (8-16) are longer, sculpted into the terrain, and are beautiful. These new holes are best done with a power cart as there may be a long walk between holes, but are well worth doing. They have tournaments during the week that are fun and included if you have an activity card.
