Description: Smack-dab in the middle of downtown Minneapolis is Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, Home of the Minnesota Twins. The Metrodome is an indoor baseball/football stadium where the Twins and Vikings play. The Metrodome was built so these teams could play sports throughout the year in the cold weather.
It sure was an interesting and neat experience. This is the first dome stadium we have been too. It was not like an other stadium. Getting to the stadium was not too hard; it's right off I35 in downtown. Parking... now that was a little different story. Parking was a bit confusing. We thought we had it on the first try, made one wrong turn, and found ourselves down entering into the University of Minnesota. Once we got back turned around, we were able to this time find the right way to park. Parking was $10, and it was pretty close. Of course, you have to walk some to get to the dome, but we did not have too far to go.
Once we got to the dome, we were able to get our tickets. Getting tickets was not problem. We bought the general admission, which was $9. We then went to our seats. Going to our seats was not hard; since we had general admission, we had plenty of bad seats to choose from. This stadium was a lot like Dodgers Stadium in that they did not let you walk around on the other levels that you did not have a ticket for. This was kind of a pain since I was looking for a knife to cut my son's apple with, and no one on the top level had one. I finally got a chef at one of the restaurants to cut it up for me.
Souvenirs here were pretty poor, and they only had kiosk selling shirts and stuff. However, across the street from where we parked we found a great gift shop with tons of cheap stuff in it.
The game itself was pretty fun. We always enjoy baseball games; it's something we do on every trip. We got to watch Johan Santana pitch, and they have a great pitcher from the Minneapolis area, Joe Mauer. They played the Chicago Cubs, so that made it even more fun, since I have never seen the Cubs play.
I recommend going to the game, as it is a great family fun event.
