Schilitterbahn is one of the smallest watermarks I have ever been to and fairly clean. It was easily accessible upon entering the island, and parking was free! The crowds were sparse until about 2pm, when things got busier and we had to wait in line for the slides. It helped immensely to go in the off-season.
A large lazy river (Rio Adventura) circles the entire park, and visitors do not even need to get out of their inner tubes. There are canals that lead off to various slides and chutes. Only one slide requires that you carry your tube to a tall tower. A kiddie wading pool, away from all the action, is perfect for the youngest children. There are about eight slides in the park and a small wave pool. A new attraction called Boogie Bahn provides a simulated wave where riders use boogie boards to surf the torrent waters. Lessons are recommended before attempting this ride. The park also has private beach access where visitors can walk a wooden deck path to the powder beaches. The slides are not long but have lots of twists, turns, and dips.
