Mesa Arch

It is one of the most spectacular sunrise locations in the West! But since Lauren Martres wrote his "Photographing the West," it isn't a secret anymore. Get up early to place your tripod on the best posible location. And wait... wait... wait... until the moment arives... ehm... what? Everybody is running around like crazy, and the sun just rose above the horizon. But you keep cool! Wait... wait... ehm... wait... and then it happens: the Mesa Arch starts glowing and the sun is behind it. The canyon in front of it is getting its first light, and what is most amazing is that all the Japanese with their cheap Canons have left the location! You'll be alone with some other photographers who will share all the best spots and tips they have about this location! Just don't do this on a weekend or holiday!

Mesa Arch

A short hike takes you right to the edge of the mesa and offers a great view through the aforementioned arch. One of the better short hikes in this area of the park. Some recommend hiking this trail in the morning. Save it for the end of day and save your energy for the better, longer hikes.
