Detroit Tigers Baseball

I don't know if it's because of the city or the team that plays there, but this park does not get the credit it should. Having visited both the old Tiger Stadium and now the new Comerica Park, I have to tell you that there is no comparison. Comerica is wonderful and state-of-the-art.

When I visited, there were some drawbacks. The park is located in downtown Detroit, which is, shall we say, not the nicest part of town. The team playing was dead last in the AL Central (and still is), and the central is the weakest division in the AL. It also rained, causing two delays and a flight cancellation that night following the game.

Despite all of the drawbacks, I was awestruck at the beauty of this park. The first thing that catches your attention are the tiger sculptures at the top of these amazing entry gates. Then, you get inside, and there is a monument park type thing in the outfield which honors past Tiger greats, including Ty Cobb.

If Detroit is in your travel plans or if you need a quick getaway, I recommend you catch a game at Comerica. You'll leave loving baseball a little more.
