Knotts So Nice, Berry Farms

My 12 year old daughter just got back from Knotts yesterday where she attended a birthday party for one of her class mates. The only thing she could talk about were all the strange people that she saw there and how they scarred her.. She said the place was full of "goth" people and kids with excessive amounts of piercings and tattoos, and it made her feel uncomfortable. She was particularly scared of one goth kid who had white contacts in his eyes ...... She also said that the staff wasn't very friendly... She made the comment "It's no Disneyland".
As a parent, I don't want my kids put into an environment that makes them feel uncomfortable or presents a bad influence on them. I'm sure we'll never go to Knotts again and I'll recommend to the school districts that they continue to go the Disney for their school outtings....... As it appears that Knotts is looking at Magic Mountain as a business model instead of raising it's standards to that of Disney..

This is not the Knott's Berry Farm I remember as a kid. There are lots of roller coasters and the atmosphere is definitely one of teenagers everywhere. They are big on respect at Knott's, so there's no leaning or sitting on the line rails.

Jason isn't big on roller coasters, so the day was a disappointment in his eyes. There weren't huge crowds, but it was very hot, and the lines for the water rides were about three times as long as everything else.

Knott's is a great place, but for adults, it’s way overpriced, even with the $10 online discount, but it's the experience you pay for.

Check out their website at knotts.com. If you buy online, you can save $10 on adult tickets.

We enjoyed our day, but decided that Knott's Berry Farm has more to offer for smaller children with the exception of a few bigger thrill rides. Some of the thrill rides include: GhostRider (a rough wooden rollar coaster), and Xcelerator. My fiance went on the Xcelerator. I was too chicken! But he really liked it and said, "It looks worse than what it is!" The ride basically shoots you out at super fast speed and then you go up this steep incline and go down a drop that is straight down!!! That's basically the end of the ride after that.

There was a funny Wild West stunt show that was fun for all ages. The Mystery Lodge was kind of a let down, but again, smaller children may enjoy it. The stagecoach ride is really neat, too.

The whole park has a completely different atmosphere than Disneyland. It's a lot less crowded, but summers are busy because summer camps bring large groups of children.

Smaller children will love spending time in the "camp snoopy" area which is themed with the beloved "Peanuts" characters such as Charlie Brown, Linus, and Snoopy.

As far as the surrounding areas of Knott's Berry Farm, there is an "admission free" area that includes mostly gift shops and the famous chicken dinner restaurant. On Sundays, it takes forever to get a table so there is also a "take out" option a few doors down. Don't forget to order "Boysenberry Juice" instead of a normal soda.

We were at Knott's on a Wenesday when it was threatening rain, but didn't. The crowds were light and there were no lines anywhere, even on the most popular rides. I overheard one of the people that work there saying that attendance had been light all week even though the weather prior to that day was great. So perhaps the best time to go is mid-May like we did.

Tickets were reasonable considering our daughter did not have to pay since she was with a paying adult. We got our tickets at www.getawaytoday.com where we received fast and efficient service.

We went to Knott's after we had done California Adventure and a couple of hours at Magic Kingdom and our daughter liked Knott's better at that point. We all really enjoyed our day there and most likely will make a point to go back again.
