From journal Do not use Scenic Airlines to see Monument Valley
July 9, 2001
The flight is not for those who get airsick or claustrophobic, but it offers stunning views of Lake Meade, Hoover Dam and the Colorado River during the hour that you are in the sky. The flight to the Canyon was extremely bumpy, and I thought the lady in front of me was going to be sick.
The big disappointment was that we only got about 1.25 hours total to walk around two different areas of the Canyon although we left our hotel at 9am and didn't return until 7pm. The best part of the trip was walking around Bright Angel Point. It offers gorgeous views of the Canyon and several hiking paths. It was neat to see people several meters below us in the Canyon.
I think the Tour company should either lengthen the time of the tour or limit the view to just one site. We wasted about 1.5 hours at a pre-arranged lunch stop, and I think most people would have been happier to bring a snack or grab something at a tourist point rather than spend all that time there.
