When you get there you will see a huge outdoor market selling mostly food but also handcrafts, household supplies, and many other items. What makes this market special is that, unlike many in Cusco, it is not aimed at tourists. It's a great cultural experience, allowing you to see a bit into the culture of the Peruvian people.
Another special thing to do in this area is go to the lake, maybe a 5 minute walk from the market. It's really pretty (buy food in the market and have a picnic!). And for a fun and relaxing end to the afternoon, they also have paddleboat rides! You can rent a boat for an hour for $2-$3.
