Description: Situated on 45 acres near scenic Lake Champlain, the Shelburne Museum boasts a collection of over 150,000 works of art and Americana, exhibited in a village-like setting of 39 modern and historic building, including 18th and 19th century barns, meeting houses, schoolhouses, a lighthouse, jail, general store, covered bridge and even the 220 foot Ticonderoga steamboat. The collections include Impressionist paintings, folk art, textiles, quilts, decorative arts, furniture, American paintings, and a variety of 17th to 20th century artifacts. Among the historic buildings, the landscape is punctuated with over 400 lilacs, a circular formal garden, herb and heirloom vegetable gardens and perennial gardens. Highlights of the collections include the hand-carved 4,000 piece Kirk Brothers Miniature Circus and 225 beautifully preserved horse-drawn vehicles.
