Description: Telephone (817) 392-6769, hours 9 am to 5 pm Tuesdays through Saturdays. 1- 5 pm Sundays. This collection of real log cabins in a heavily shaded park, is fascinating. A 5 minute drive from the Zoo across University Drive, it's an easy 2nd stop in a day for Zoo visitors. Relatively easy walking, seating to watch demonstrations such as candle making. A couple of the cabins are said to be haunted. You'll have to figure this out for yourself. About a 15 minute drive from downtown, the Cultural Distric (art museums) and dozens of restaurants. Ten minutes from Texas Christian University. Modest gift shop has interesting things such as corn cob dolls and clothing made on 100 year old patterns. No concessions! This place is a real treasure!
The Log Cabin Village is hosted by costumed interpreters who tell the story of the Village and the various cabins as well as the school house, the blacksmith shop and the mill. These are a really fine group of people. Take the time to talk with them.
