South Beach

Dense white sand beach. We would get there around 10am-11am and there was hardly anyone there on a weekday and even the weekends weren't too bad. We rented chairs which are $7 each and if you want an umbrella it is an additional $7. Tan for a while, skip into the water and then tan some more. You can also go topless on the beach if you desire. Very quiet and relaxing watching the ships in the distance. If you are just laying on your beach towel, make sure not to lay to much closer to the water than the chairs...as the tide will come in and you'll have to move.

A Day At The Beach

Almost anything goes here. You'll see everything from huge spanish speaking families to topless models. The environment is very liberal and the large gay population makes South Beach all the more wonderful and festive. Unfortunately, most of the sand is hard packed, with the exception of a small strip closest to the water. This is where the crowd gathers. Venture down to the Collins Ave. part of the beach away from all the hotels for more solitary tanning. The sun is hot and you will burn! It may feel cool with the breeze but the sun is stonger than you think. Avoid a painful evening and a week of peeling and use sun screen that's twice as stong as you normally do.
