The sixth-floor museum is a must-stop on any Dallas itinerary. I've been there a number of times, and it is my favorite place to take visitors.

The exhibit contains information about JFK's life and radio and newsreels of the trip to Fort Worth and Dallas that ended in the assassination. It allows you to stand in the same window where Lee Harvey Oswald allegedly stood to get the sniper's view of the road and the grassy knoll. Someone has painted an X on the road to mark the spot where JFK was killed.

On the upper floor of the museum they have space for rotating exhibits.

During our school days, we have all learned about President Kennedy's trip to Dallas and the horrific day in November, 1963 when he was shot from a window in the Book Depository. While visiting Dallas, I had to go see the place where this happened - to visit a big part of history. As we entered downtown Dallas, we thought there would be many signs pointing us in the direction of the Grassy Knoll or the Depository. We were wrong. We drove around and around and finally stumbled across the site. We parked the car and walked over to the Grassy Knoll expecting to see a monument to Kennedy and other signs or memorabilia. Instead, all we found was a blue X marking the spot in the road where he was shot. There were a few vendors selling newspapers about that day, but no other national monument highlighting Kennedy or that tragic day. We were extremely surprised. The Depository has a museum on the 6th floor, however, they do not allow visitors to go to the window where the shots came from as it is all glass enclosed. We were a little disappointed that such a big event in American history was not more prominently marked.
