The #1 Waterpark in the World

I have been waiting to go to Schlitterbahn for five years. I was watching the travel channel and they named Schlitterbahn the world's best waterpark. I have wanted to go there ever since.
Once I finally got the opportunity to visit Texas, nothing was going to stop me from going to Schlitterbahn (even all the rain showers that kept coming through all day long). After 5 years of waiting, I was not disappointed. This is absolutely the best waterpark I have ever been to.
There are three sections to the waterpark, Blastenhoff, Surfenburg, and Schlitterbahn West, and there is a free tram to take you from one section to another. While I had a great time at Blastenhoff and Surfenburg, being from Central Florida I felt as if I had already done most of those types of slides and attractions. However, Schlitterbahn West was a whole different ballgame. I have not seen too many of those attractions before. They have miles of tube ride attractions and they are a blast, but beware some of them may take 30 minutes to get all the way to the end of the attraction and your party may get separated. Schlitterbahn West is an older section of the park and all the water is from the Comal River which is spring fed (which also means it is fairly cold). But just because that part of the park is older, doesn't mean the attractions aren't any fun. They have plenty of slides and two huge hot tubs too!
Around Schlitterbahn West is a resort that lets you feel as if you are literally inside the park. I would love to go back one day and stay there.
Regardless if you like the new section of the park or the classic section of the park, Schlitterbahn is a must to do.

We saw Schlitterbahn on the Travel Channel as the best water park in the US, and my husband had wanted to come here since. We had such a great time. There were things for people of all ages to do. We took our kids, ages 8, 4, and 7 weeks. The older ones were able to do anything we felt like they were able to do, and there were a lot of shaded areas with picnic tables for us to sit at with the little one.

I would recommend buying your tickets on the Internet before you go. We did and were able to add on an unlimited soft drink with our ticket that you could not buy at the park. So, for $5, we got free refills all day, which is nice when it is so hot.

One other nice thing they offer is Splash Cash, which you buy when you buy your tickets. Essentially, it is a plastic bracelet that has tear-off tabs you use like cash, and if you don't use it all, you can get your cash back at the end of the day. The unfortunate part of our trip was that the original west side of the park was closed, so we weren't able to enjoy that. We did spend 2 days there from opening to closing, and the kids still didn't want to leave. We definitely plan on making a trip back here sometime.

This park is fun for the whole family. The famous New Braunfels area hosts this waterpark, and it seems that it keeps expanding. There are a lot of rides for young and old and lots of food to choose from, or you can bring your own food if you like.

There is also a super hot tub for one to relax in, and it is scenic; it isn't just about concrete here, since they feed off the river and there is a plush area of trees in the background. Very nice.

I had been going past the Schlitterbahn Water Park for many years and had always wanted to take the family. This was the year, we thought we would try it. It was probably one of the least enjoyable times I have had in many years of travel. The lines are incredibly long. Several of the rides were impossible to get on and this was during the week. This place is not for adults. I don't think my three teenage kids enjoyed the wait times of over an hour per ride. Save your money and find something less stressful on your feet and mind.

Park is divided into two parts. Schlitterbahn West is the original park and is very shady. Highly recommend doing this part in the afternoon when it is hotter and the shade is most appreciated. Also this part is easy to do without swimshoes or sandals. Schlitterbahn East is the newer part and is not at all shady. Highly recommend doing this part in the morning before it gets hotter. Do your feet a favor and be sure to wear swimshoes or sandals for this part of the park.

Master Blaster and Family Blaster (both in the East park) are uphill water coasters. We hit Master Blaster at a good time and wait was only 1 to 1 1/2 hours long. It is not unusual for it to be 3+ hours though. Boogie Bahn (also in the East) is the world's first surfing ride. Downfall was one line to get surf board and then had to go stand in another line to get on.

Schlitterbahn Waterpark was rated America's #1 water park on Travel Channel. We enjoyed it and would recommend it, but only for those willing to wait in long lines.
