Several different types of cars race each Saturday, ranging from the street stocks that barely make it around the track to the Super Sprint races that travel much faster than I would think possible on a dirt track.
Prices are great. $10 for adults, $2 for kids. Plenty of free parking, and food, sodas, beer, and souvenirs are plentiful. The local color is interesting, as well. It is not uncommon to see local fans from the "country-er" parts of Texas sitting side by side with the suburbanites hauling a load of kids out for a birthday party.
If you're going to eat on the way, stop in Mesquite on I-635. There are plenty of restaurants there, but they quickly become quite scarce as you travel east. No coolers or outside food or beverages allowed.
Directions are simple: East on Highway 80 from I-635. Go six miles to Lawson Road. Go south (right) on Lawson road 3 miles and you'll see it on your right.

Take sunglasses and a hat, as you face the sun until the beautiful Texas sunset entertains you. Sunscreen is advised for those who go early, and the noise probably warrants ear plugs to protect one's hearing.
And most importantly, take a handful of one-dollar bills. You won't be able to resist wagering on the many races you'll see in a single evening.
