The Boat & Crew: Aquanuts has two very nice boats. The boats can hold up to 30 people but as we came during the off season we only had crowds on the weekend, mid-week we averaged 6-10 people per trip. The captains & Divemasters are all very nice & knowledgable but I have to admit they never really "went the extra mile" while we were there. Many of the European guests were surprised that the DMs stayed on the boat during the dive so you will want to hire guide if you want someone to show you around down there.
Dive Sites: While I loved the reefs & the fish, it is obvious that these reefs are seeing a lot of traffic. Buoyancy, buoynacy, buoyancy!!!! We dove the newly sunken Spiegel Grove and it was cool but I wouldn't bother going again until there is more life on it. We loved The Duane (deep), The City of Washington (shallow) and The Benwood (giant parrot fish on the night dive!).
Russ Lingl is the head instructor at AquaNuts
and we were very happy with him. He is an older, experienced diver and is very knowledgable and patient. Aqua-Nuts offers many PADI courses including the Scuba Refresher for those who feel their diving skills are a little rusty.
Of all the dive operators we researched we feel that we probably found the best one in that area.
Overall we were very happy with Aqua-Nuts and would recommend them but I wouldn't want to dive with them during the peak season with 30 people on the boat!
