A Little Sketchy

This shopping center is not easy to find. Nor is it easy to navigate. With the multiple levels and random staircases, it made for a short experience for this traveler.
The music in most stores was outrageously loud. There are many shopping centers in the area and this may not be the best bet as the deals are few and the tension rises as the staff follow you around the store if you aren't wearing Manolos and carrying a Coach bag.

United Artists Horton Plaza 14 is part of the Regal Entertainment Group with 14 screens on two levels and 2 concession stands with validated parking good for 4 hours done as you give your movie tickets to be torn. The facility was good, able to watch our movie without any problems.

There are lots of food places to eat on level 4 outside of the theatre in the Gaslamp Quarter here. This area can be too busy to be comfortable in with traffic and crowds of people. Matinee shows are starting times before 6pm Monday-Friday, before 4pm on weekends and holidays. Admission $10, matinee $7.50, child & senior $6.50, student & military $9.00

Horton Plaza

Dr. Seuss meets the modern shopping mall at Horton Plaza. This is a twisted seven-level, 6.5-city-block shopping extravaganza, with 140 shops and restaurants lining downtown like a monstrosity. A very unique shopping experience awaits you. This is really something you’ve never seen. It’s unlike any other shopping center. It’s a crazy place, with checkered walkways, crazy murals, and street performers. Everything you desire is here: Macy's, Nordstrom, Mervyns, and my personal favorite, Bebe. They have everything from Abercrombie to Zales, literally. Stop in and have some ice cream at Ben and Jerry's and fish tacos at Rubios, try on new lingerie at Victoria’s Secret, get a quick tan at Platinum Tan, or even see a movie. There’s even a post office on site. There are plenty of restroom facilities, escalators, and elevators.

The Westin Hotel is adjacent to the mall, just in case you need a nap afterward. You could spend the entire day here, just wandering around and looking at the architecture, the colors, artwork, and specialty shops.

As an added bonus, around Christmastime, the Westin hotel offers stay-and-shop specials with a special room rate and coupons books to use at various stores inside the plaza. Take a day to stroll through this wonderland. It's so Cat in the Hat-ish.

They have the brand-name stores like Nordstrom and Macy's, as well as the local flavor like the San Diego store. It was only 2 blocks from the Gaslamps Plaza Suites.

It's in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter. It's an open-air architectural mall with shops like Nordstrom, Macy's, Ann Taylor, Louis Vuitton, Banana Republic, Bebe, to name just a few. I loved this mall. We found some great deals here.

There's also a foreign exchange, US Post Office, travel agency services, hair and nail salons, restaurants, and a 14 screen movie theater.

Opens Mon-Sat at 10am, Sun at 11am.
