Dog Beach

The dog beach is a great place to bring your family dog or dogs, and your whole family to hang out for the day! This is a great place to play fetch in the water, or just get socialized with other dogs. At first I was a little hesitant to let my two little Chihuahuas run amongst all of the larger dogs we didn't know, but soon after we unleashed them they were totally excited to see a whole bunch of other dogs. It's like a big party for them. Other dogs would run by and check them out and play or mind their own business. I have never seen them so excited, it was really great to see! All of the dogs were having fun and it's a great way to get your dogs to sleep all through the night! I would definitely recommend coming to this beach with your dog, but even though I hadn't had any incidents, do beware of aggressive dogs, we'd rather be safe than sorry!

Dog Beach

This was our favorite beach when we visited San Diego. Although it is named "Dog Beach" we didn't see a single dog. It had a lot of good beach area. The parking lot was big, and the parking was free.

We took Voltaire St. about a mile from the hostel to the ocean at "Dog Beach", which was exactly as you could imagine including all the added perks associated with dogs. We had to watch every step that we took to avoid getting some nasty stuff that comes out of dogs on the bottom of our shoes.
