Description: Race for Atlantis
This is the only IMAX 3D simulator ride in the world! We had to queue for quite some time for this ride at Caesar’s Palace, but it was well worth the wait.
It turns out that every thousand years, there is a chariot race to see which god will rule Atlantis. Guess what: Neptune picks you as his champion to race for him. However, you soon find out this is not an ordinary chariot race around a sandy arena--no, this is a chariot that races through Atlantis itself.
You have to wear 3D goggles to experience the race, which are none too flattering; however, you soon forget you are wearing them as you experience the ride.
The actual experience is enhanced by the spectacular 3D images, the stereo sounds coming directly through your goggles, and, of course, the movements. The ride is very jerky and quite fast in places. If you suffer from back problems, etc., you might be best off avoiding it. A couple of young kids on our ride got a bit scared, but for those brave enough, it is a fantastic journey. The screens are huge and there is no escaping the experience--not that you would want to. You race at breakneck speed, avoiding obstacles--well, sometimes avoiding them--racing against competitors, and generally taking your life in your hands.
Your really feel part of the ride and get totally immersed in it. I am not sure how long the ride lasted, but at around $10 per person, it was great value for money.
I would urge anyone visiting Las Vegas to definitely have a go on this ride--you will be glad you did!
