Plantation Tour

We got such good information from our tour guides that it was almost like stepping back in time. We learned how people live there now and in the past. We didn't have to worry about driving. The bus driver gave us info on the way out. You get to tour two plantations, Oak Alley and Laura, and drive by four others.

New Orleans Tours Evergreen Plantation

Evergreen was built in the late 1700s and is currently a private home and functioning sugarcane plantation. The house is beautiful and the owner has just recently opened it to the public. I believe it's the only plantation one can tour with the original slaves quarters still intact. I think seeing the slaves quarters was the most astonishing things about the tour. You have to see the size and location of the quarters to really experience American history. The owner has had much research done on the slaves who lived on the planatation and has actual documents of slave trades. What an eye opener it is to see this plantation!
