A fantastic day with lots to see. We swam in the underground river, and snorkeled in an inlet. The offshore activities were cancelled because of the rough weather. We didn't swim with the dolphins, but if we had then we wouldn't have had time to see all the other things like butterflies, turtles, dance exhibitions, etc. We ate in a restaurant but it would have been a good place to take a picnic.

Do stay for the evening show, it is superb. Lots of trips from the hotels, etc. If you hire a car then it is a fraction of the price to get in.

This was by far our favorite excursion. We rented a car and drove ourselves. The drive is only about an hour from the hotel zone and signs have the route clearly marked. You can't get lost. It's a safe drive. There are bits and pieces of ruins throughout the park. The beaches and lagoons are spectacular. There is snorkeling, SCUBA diving, a lazy underground river, beaches, hiking, animals to see, huge turtles, pony rides, horseback riding, horse shows, dolphin shows, interactive programs, great food, and a fantastic night show. The park is very spread out so be prepared for a full day.

Be sure to bring biodegradable sunscreen because they don't allow anything else, but have no fear, they sell it here. They sell a little of everything in their gift shops. They rent lockers, snorkel gear, and towels. The lockers are on the small side though. There are freshwater showers everywhere to rinse off. There are also chairs and hammocks everywhere to relax throughout the day. No bug bites to worry about! We would definitely do it again.

What better way to cool off in this humid, hot climate than a swim through an underground cave in a cool river winding through a half mile of jungle! Afterwards, relax at a beachside bar while watching children and adults cavorting with dolphins (optional activity with extra charge over the $50 entrance fee). Then amble through the tropical jungle, viewing monkeys, jaguars, macaws, and toucans, through ancient Mayan ruins, and quaint Mexican village replica.

Butterfly farm was beautiful, but the crowning event is the Mayan and Mexican pageant in the amphitheater at 7pm. Best seats are with the $20 three-course dinner. The magical, mystical feeling of ancient Maya returns with the painted feathered warriors and royalty decorated in animal skins recreating ancient ceremonies (sans sacrifice!) and pok ta pok ball games. The second half features standard Mexican regional dances, drummers, lariat demos, and flying Vera Cruz dancers. Wow!

The show took the watcher from early Mayan occupation to the modern day. It covers the history of Mexico through sport, dance, and music. The color and pagentry of the spectacle was a most impressive sight. I wish I had brought an extra battery for my videocamera.

This is an experience of the same quality as Orlando attractions, but completely different. There is too much to do all in one day, and the site unique to Mexico and simply not to be missed.

Swimming with dolphins happens in a natural inlet, which adds to the experience. Snorkelling takes place in an underground river and then in a bay with clear, warm water, lots of rocks, and lots of brightly-coloured fish.

The show in the evening presents a memorable review of Mexico's history.
