Description: My friend and I had some hours to spend in New York before we were taken to the airport. We walked past Madame Tussaud's and then decided to go in there.
General
It’s a wax museum with statues of celebrities. Madame Tussaud's is located in downtown New York's Times Square and near the famous Port Authority bus station. The exact address is 234 West 42nd Street, but you can not miss it, we saw already two blocks away.
The easiest way to get there is by subway or bus or at the Times Square stop or at Port Authority. From there you need about a half block walk to get to this museum.
How much does it cost?
Madame Tussaud's in New York is quite pricey. There are various ticket prices: Individual tickets:

Children under 4 years are free.
Group rates
For groups over 15 persons there are special prices which are mainly meant for school trips. 10 children per one adult is admitted at the special price and per 20 persons, one person goes for free.

What is there to do and see?
This wax museum is spread over 6 floors. As you enter you first go with a large staircase, then take the elevator to the top floor. Then you walk through all the rooms (which are all individually decorated and have a kind of theme) and get to a staircase that takes you to the next floor. For people in a wheelchair is no problem to go through the rooms, everything is wide and decorated on each floor there is the possibility to take the elevator to go down (though it may only be used by disabled or elderly) .
Oscar's party: a ballroom here is just a movie premiere with all the famous actors and actresses. You can see George Clooney and get a picture with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Of course you can also "older" ones like Jack Nicholson and Jane Fonda.
VIP room: this is like a big club, "one of the hottest clubs in New York", where all young stars are. Here you will find include Paris Hilton, Usher and Jessica Simpson. You can also take photos behind a giant cocktail and pretend you are preparing all the drinks that night!
Political figures: all people who have done anything in American politics in Madame Tussaud's here, like Obama and Hilary nowadays. You can get on the picture with the former presidents of America, but the Supreme Court Judges ".
Superstars: there is a floor filled with wax figures of stars that everyone should know, like Marilyn Monroe, the Spice Girls, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears. There are also sports figures and the Target dog that is very popular in America, it's a bit of a mix of everything.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Who would not want Johnny Depp in the picture? You can get a fake pirate ship and walk around with some of the actors from the film at the photo, including Orlando Bloom.
Chamber of Horrors, Live: a kind of haunted house where real people walking around. They are dressed as ghouls from famous films such as Halloween. They dare not touch, but they are so close that I almost had a heart attack. For people who are afraid easily I would not recommend it, certainly not for small children.
In the picture with J. Lo: the image of J. Lo is in a special room where you can dress nicely at all and next to the diva on the picture. If you say something in her ear, she will even blush!
Red Carpet Photos: If you walk into one of the corridors, suddenly you see yourself in hundreds of TV screens and you suddenly feel every day by what celebrities. You may pose a podium while the flashing cameras of the paparazzi (not really though) sound. It's nice to agree to do, but I was soon back away from the spotlight!
American Idol: Have you ever wanted to do it on my couch, but not on live TV? You can do so at Madame Tussaud's in New York. The judges, including Simon fearful, is ready for you and you can sing on a real stage. We have not done so because there was a long line and my girlfriend and I absolutely can not sing!
Baseball: Here you can join a game of the New York Yankees or the Mets. Some of the most famous players are on the field and you can obviously take photos with them!
The shop: it is obviously at the end of the museum shop where you can buy souvenirs. They also eat and candy (you sure are in America eh!) To take on the way home.
Restaurant/toilets
You're in America, so are restaurants everywhere. Unfortunately you can not take your own food inside with you, but before the big lift to the upper floor there is a restaurant where all the snacks are such as donuts, hot dogs and ice. Here you also drink bottles that you can carry. Somewhere along the way (I believe on the third floor) you will also pass by a restaurant where you can sit while looking for the people who want to experience watching Idols.
On each floor toilets to find all you need to search a bit. Best is just askan employee where to find them, saving you some time!
Is it fun for everyone?
I enjoyed themselves for a morning walk around in this museum. Normally places like this you only take pictures, but here it was even fun just to wander around. For small children it seems to me like it if they love movies, but here you should not expect pictures of cartoon characters or something. Because there are several things to do, like sing or dress, they will probably also here enjoying themselves.
The problem of a long queue at the entrance, you are not. We were there on weekends, during holidays, and so we could run inside. This also makes it more appealing than the touristy places you really hours in the line up!
