Water Country USA is a Blast

Water Country USA is loads of fun for the entire family. My kids are 3, 6, and 7 and we were all able to go on practically everything. If your kids are not as young as mine, then you’ll be able to get to every ride in the park. This park has a couple of baby/toddler pools so someone can hang with the little ones while the older kids go on the more adventurous water slides. Wear your bathing suit and don’t bother to wear anything else because every single ride is a water ride. They have life vests for the little ones to wear. My 3 year old kept his on the entire time. Park rules state that you cannot bring food into the park. We did anyway and no one really says anything even if they see it at the front gate when they check your bags. You’re better off bringing your own food as the food at this park is not that great. Water country USA is 3 minutes from Busch Gardens and about 15 minutes from Colonial Williamsburg. If you are visiting Williamsburg during a heat wave, then you have to hit Water Country! Check out the picture of me at Water Country with my I love IGOUGO tshirt on!!!

This is a heavily wooded, well maintained water park. It is not as large as some of the water parks in Orlando and Tampa but it has many good rides and the weather is very mild. The wave pool was quite small compared to Typhoon Lagoon at Walt Disney World but it was pleasant. The lines were not very long which made it even better because you could ride so many rides in a short amount of time. Since the weather is very mild you don't have to run from ride to ride because the cement is too hot. I would recommend this water park to anyone that wants to take their family on a side trip after Washington D.C.

There are lots of different tube rides and water attractions to pick from. Perfect for a hot August day! There is an area for the babies/toddlers with interactive play and a small waterslide, which we used to get my 5- and 8-year-olds ready for the regular ones. The more you ride, the more you want to ride--what seemed outragous and impossible when we first got to the park was tempting and enticing by the end of the first day and day two! The park can get very crowded by mid-afternoon, so get there early to ride without the wait. Use the bounce pass and change into dry clothes and head to Busch Gardens for late afternoon and evening, and have a meal at the park and take in one of the spectacular shows. The park has a different ambience in the evening, so it's worth it. Also, after a few hours in a wetsuit and soggy feet from water shoes, putting on dry clothes is a treat, and you can unwind on the approximately 20-minute ride to get to Busch Gardens from WWC.

Water Country USA

Where do I begin? First off, Water Country USA is clean, a lot cleaner than Disney's water parks (those are GREAT, too!). They offer quality food; many changing rooms/bathrooms; and, best of all, tons of rides. But here are a few tips:
When you get to the park, and get there when it opens, head straight to either Surfers Bay (wave pool) to "camp out" for the day and put your bags, and if you don’t have bags or someone else has them, to Aquazoid. Lines get brutally long as the day goes on, so get your dose of it right away.
Another thing that I already said above is that I recommend that everyone wear a lifejacket on Hubba-Hubba Highway. Hubba Hubba is a lazy river without the lazy. There are powerful jets that push you around a huge circle. Since it’s fast, life jackets help you from scraping against the ground/side. Oh yeah, and the park has life jackets that anyone can use for free. You can find them near Hubba and Surfers Bay. Enjoy!!

This is the only water park that we've been to (this was our third visit) that is set right into the trees. All of the rides/attractions are separated by naturally treed areas, so you don't feel like you are in a huge multi-ride amusement park (even though there are plenty of different activities to choose from). There are a couple of pool activity areas for small children, one of which is called H2O, which our children enjoyed immensely.

This year they opened up a great new ride called Hubba Hubba Highway, where you float in a 3 foot deep "river" which pushes you gently along while you listen to Beach Boys music. After several times around the long and winding "highway", you feel like you've been in a whirlpool or hot tub, due to the jets along the side of the river which push the water along. This was a surprisingly relaxing activity even for someone who is not into water park rides.

There is a also a wave pool, as well as numerous more traditional water park slides.

Always a family favourite!
