Paramount Kings Dominion

Not far from Williamsburg is Paramounts Kings Dominion, a fabulous theme park for kids and adults. A replica of the Eiffel Tower, Nickelodian kids land, dolphin and other shows and roller coasters from vintage (the still wooden Rebel Yell) to extreme (the drop zone, a terrifying free fall), are sure to entertain (and exhaust) you for hours on end. Get a combo ticket for the water park next door when you're ready to really cool off.

This park was a disappointment. There was a ton of school groups there the day we went and not enough park staff to handle them. Kids were cutting in every line we were in. They were rowdy and obnoxious. Then, after waiting in these lines, the rides were not worth the wait. Every ride was slow, and many of them had very uncomfortable restraints. Even the launched coasters start out fast but then lose way too much speed. Also, the ride staff was not very efficient or friendly. They moved very slowly in checking the cars, so the lines moved very slowly. The best coasters were the woodie Grizzly and the steel Volcano. It is not recommended for coaster enthusiasts or adults without children. Note: The price we paid was half-price for members of American Coaster Enthusiasts.

This is an overall excellent park for families and adults alike. Any who are just seeking some fun, relaxation, and memorable times should visit this park. The staff wasn’t exactly overly nice, but they were very safety conscientious as they checked each safety harness and belt twice. Not a bad park indeed.

There were a different rollercoasters at King's Dominion. The park surprised us with what it had. There is also a waterpark in the middle of it if you bring your suits. The volcano rollercoaster had a very long line. It was a short ride (little over a minute) but it was well worth it to be blasted out of a volcano. Anaconda was nice but a little rough. The kids liked the Hurler - it is a wooden one, which I do not ride. There was also a double wooden rollercoaster which the kids liked which I did not ride. The outer limits rollercoaster is inside and will really send you flying fast. Get in the seat, sit back and do not move your head - it will get whipped around.
