Mike introduced us to the trip's concept, but didn't talk down to us, and told us we were guaranteed to see green sea turtles. I'm always apprehensive when someone makes a guarantee, especially about animals, but he was right. We saw lots of turtles, big ones, small ones, and he tutored us in the life and growth patterns of the turtles. (The place where we snorkeled was right in front of the Makena Surf condos.) Mike was born and raised on Maui and knows all of the ins and outs.
The place where we went to kayak was not a far paddle, I would say about a 1/4 mile and then we snorkelled for about an hour. We then paddled again to another spot to see other rock formations and animals, though no turtles and then back to the beach for provided snacks and drinks.
The cost for the 3 1/2 hour tour was $59/per person plus tip.
As a side note, Mike also does ATV trips and many other "guided" adventures; call South Pacific and ask for him. I can't imagine a better guide.
