Opulently styled with columns and mosaics reminiscent of ancient Rome, Cavalieri Hilton’s 6,600-square-foot Health and Fitness Center is the largest in the city. Combining cutting-edge equipment with the elegance of period antiques and art works in its relaxation areas, the spa is a sophisticated facility for the health-conscious Roman elite and international visitors who can take advantage of such features as the body-building exercise room with Technogym equipment, two studios for aerobics, yoga and stretching; Turkish bath; hydromassage; multi-massage armchairs; separate men’s and women’s sauna rooms; "La Prairie" facial and body treatments; health bar with energy snacks and healthy drinks; heated Olympic-sized outdoor pool and glass-domed indoor pool with antique fireplace; Roman relaxation area, with comfortable loungers, soft music and wait service.
A variety of three-day programs caters to the different needs of male and female travelers: the Sport Program includes a personal trainer; electrotherapy; two sport massage sessions, cardio-fitness and/or bodybuilding and a sun-bed session. (Cost: Euros 255.65); the Anti-Stress Program provides cardiovascular exercise and stretching; sauna; Turkish bath; use of relaxation area; anti-stress massage, anti-fatigue massage and balance treatment. (Cost: Euros 204.00); and the Oriental Program offers a yoga session; sauna and Turkish bath; foot reflexology; ayurvedic massage; shiatsu massage and facial micro-massage. (Cost: Euros 253.10). One small touch which seems too frequently missing and which the Fitness area really should consider, in this visitor’s opinion, is rubberized floor covering. This is virtually standard in American training facilities and for some reason is resisted in favor of hardwood floors. Rubberized matting provides stability, cushioning and is just a bit better in absorbing the noise of a dropped weight than plain wood surfaces. Otherwise, the Fitness areas are well-designed and have excellent equipment as far as either free weights or strength training machines.
