You can drive along the arboretum to get to every collection that it has. First, stop by the admin building for the plan. Next to it there is the bonsai collection which is really amazing. You can see the bonsai trees that are the miniature version of pine trees, crab apple trees, etc. of the ones outside. There are several large collections that you can find by following the map: Asian collection has plants from China, Japan & Korea, the azalea collection is very colorful in summer, the bdogwood collection has rare species of dogwood, and some others. There is also a collection of herbs right across the road from the admin building.
But the most spectacular part of the place is capitol columns: 22 corinthian columns that once were in the US Capitol are now part of the park landscape. There are cascading fountains in front of them. Perfect place to take pictures.
There is also a small gift shop at the exit. So you can stop by on your way out and buy some postcards or other souvenirs.
