Description
The memory of the Holocaust affects many in Israelis. Six million were lost in Hitler's mass genocide; many of Israel's immigrants were Holocaust survivors. This day is the anniversary of the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. At 8pm the 28th, there is a memorial rally at the Mann Auditorium, with readings, speeches and songs. Admission is free. At 11am the next morning, a siren sounds for two minutes and all human movement stops. Cars will grind to a halt and drivers will get out on the highway to respect the silence.
