Description
On display are Japan's beautiful embroidery techniques (shishu) which were introduced to the West during the Meiji period. The traditional method of embellishing royal robes has its roots in Korea and China. The Japanese artisans often add printed designs to the embroidery. Enjoy a sample of Yatsuhashi-an, a traditional Kyoto confectionery made from beans which has a distinctive cinnamon flavor.
