Wreck beach is vancouvers most popular clothing-optional beach. Because of its location, (near UBC) and the 500 stairs down it takes to get there it isnt a very touresty beach. Mostly locals, hippies, and collage kids that like to take the sun european style. The atmosphere is very chill, (partially due to the intake of hippi type substances) and is a great place to find circles of dreadlocked tattooed teens singing to an acoustic guitar, vegatarian food, skimboarders, and painted peace signs on rocks all while surrounded with the most beautiful enviornment you could find on a beach. No buildings, roads, cars, noise... just the forrest you walked through downhill to get there, mountains, and the sea. On one side, next to the food tent where you can find veggie dogs, corn on the cob, empanadas, organic juices, and other grilled foods, there is a maze of beautiful brightly colored beach sheets, flowing dresses, harem pants, scarves, boho bags, and every other type of unique gypsy style clothing you could imagine hanging on lines blowing in the breeze, all for very inexpensive prices, $1- $15. You can also find hemp and medal tribal jewlry, hats and hemp wallets. There is still the occational tourest that will visit, fully clothed and freak out about the abundance of naked people, other than that and the climb back UP the stairs after a day of laying on the beach, its a beautiful place to stop, show some skin and take in the sun. My most favorite beach in vancouver by far.
