Wigan Pier

Description

A nationally renowned attraction, the workshops and exhibitions at Wigan Pier allow you to re-live the town as it was in 1900. The recreated coal mine gives visitors the chance to experience the dark and noisy working conditions that miners had to endure. They can even re-live the Maypole colliery disaster through an audio-visual presentation. The pier has a self-service café and other attractions such as a Victorian classroom, boat hire and role-playing murder mystery games. You can marvel at the world's largest mill steam engine at Trencherfield Mill and there are also canal waterbus trips taking you to cotton spinning demonstrations.
