The BUEI is a short walk from downtown Hamilton and definitely worth it, especially for around $15pp. This museum opened in 1997, so the exhibits are more modern than what you'd find in most museums. The first level contains a beautiful shell collection, as well as exhibits on the Bermuda Triangle and how ancient divers used to get underwater. From this first level, a 7-minute Disney-style ride takes you into the deep. And given that there aren't many tourists at the museum, we had the ride all to ourselves!
On the lower level, you come out into darkness with sea creatures everywhere. There's a simulated shark cage, which scared me enough not to want to go in and more exhibits relating to shipwrecks.
Included in the museum are a variety of things to touch and explore, buttons to push, and video screen to watch, so the museum is great for kids of all ages.
