Vladimir Vysotskii Museum (Muzei Vladimira Vysotskogo)

Description

This museum has operated since June 1992, but the idea of creating a museum dedicated to the great Russian songwriter and actor Vladimir Vysotskii started to surface in the beginning of 1980s after his untimely death. The museum has permanent and temporary exhibitions that tell visitors about the artistic life of 'Russia's Bob Dylan'. He was one of the first songwriters to question the Soviet system.

The Vysotskii's son became a director of the museum in 1996. The museum publishes a yearly almanac Vysotskii's World: research and materials. In April of 1998 the museum hosted its first international conference, Vladimir Vysotskii and Russian Culture of the 1960s and 70.
