Description
In a country not renowned for its animal welfare, this is a surprisingly good zoo with a large range of reptiles, birds and small mammals on display. You can stand above the fearsome crocodiles and feed chicken to their snapping jaws. Elephant rides are available throughout the day and this is home to the fabled Lao white elephant. There are two small restaurants and a picnic area within the grounds and several eating stalls lining the paths outside. An enjoyable day trip through some lovely countryside only one hour from Vientiane makes this a good excursion or motorbike outing.
