Description
Founded in 1755, this museum was one of the very first museums in Russia dedicated to geology. Over the years, the museum has become a scientific and educational centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Exhibitions illustrate the history of geological development and the evolution of the Earth's biosphere. There is a fairly vast collection of rocks, stones and minerals gathered over 200 years by the likes of famous Russian scientific pioneers Lomonosov and Vernadskii himself.
