Description
The Vaxholm Fortress was built between 1883-1863 to guard one of the main waterways that lead into the Stockholm archipelago. The Fortress museum contains interesting items from Vaxholm's history as a fortress and then later as a prison. The Fortress is impressive, and is an interesting stop for those who want to venture further out to Stockholm's archipelago.
