Upper Room Chapel and Museum

The Upper Room building is where the devotional book of the same name is published. It is very near the campus of Vanderbilt. When we arrived at the building, we were given an "Upper Room" devotional book and escorted up a narrow stairway to the upper chapel.

The front of chapel is graced by the "Last Supper" woodcarving by Ernest Pellegrini. Guests listen to a tape recorded presentation about the carving which describes in detail each disciple in the carving. The recording really seemed to bring the carving to life.

After visiting the chapel, we went downstains to a small museum of religious paintings and products. It was very small, but there were many interesting pieces. As we exited we stopped at the gift shop.

The highlight of a visit here is the chapel to see the 8 foot by 17 foot wood carving of 'The Last Supper.'
The chapel and museum are part of the complex where the Upper Room magazine is produced.
There is also a huge stain glass window at the entrance to the chapel.
The museum has many different religious artifacts.
A great time to visit is around Christmas to see the displays of nativity scenes.
