University of Liverpool Art Gallery

Description

Unique collections of fine works are on display within this elegant Georgian House. Established since 1891, the university has purchased many works of art over the years and has also benefited from gifts of watercolours, paintings, sculpture, ceramics, textiles and furniture. Sculpture by John Foley, stained glass cartoons by Edward Burn-Jones and paintings by Joseph Wright are just a few examples of the treasures available on show. Temporary exhibitions are sometimes held in the nearby Senate House in Oxford Street. Booking is not essential unless you require a guided tour; groups may visit outside regular hours by prior arrangement.
